2 Underage Girls Found Alone In Motel Rooms With Adult Men; Mother, 2 Others Arrested

Three people have been arrested after two underage girls were found alone in separate rooms with adult men at an Alabama motel.

The mother of one of the girls was arrested Monday for driving the girl to the motel in Walker County, renting a room and leaving her unattended. Two others were also arrested in connection with the incident, officials said.

The two minors were rescued after a family member of one of the girls alerted cops that an underage girl was in a room with an adult male, reported Tuscaloosa Patch.

The Walker County Sheriff's Office deputies found the girls in two separate rooms. Each of them was with an adult male. The age and identities of the girls were not disclosed.

Following an investigation, officers found that the two adult men who were with the minor girls had outstanding warrants with the Jasper Police Department. They were both taken into custody, according to AL.com.

"It was determined that a parent of one of the underage females drove the girl to the motel, rented the room, then left the child unattended at some point," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "That parent was also taken into custody and charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child."

The suspects could face more charges.

Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith described it as a "heartbreaking situation" and promised justice for the girls.

"Our children are our greatest asset in Walker County, and the Walker County Sheriff's Office will protect them above all. This is a very heartbreaking situation, and thinking about this entire situation will make anyone physically sick — especially another parent," Smith said in the statement.

"The amount of trauma and mental anguish that these girls have and will endure in the future is troubling to say the least," he added. "Our office, along with DHR and the Walker County District Attorney's Office will be making every effort and diligent in seeking justice to the fullest extent of the law."
