2-Year-Old Drowns In Brooklyn Lake During Family Barbecue

The body of a 2-year-old girl who, along with her 4-year-old brother, had gotten separated from her mother was pulled from Prospect Park Lake in the Brooklyn borough of New York Saturday.

Police divers recovered the body of Ruhshona Kurvonova, who had been reported missing at 1:19 p.m. EDT. The child's mother collapsed in grief, the New York Post reported. The body was recovered at 6:30 p.m., the New York Daily News said. Her brother was found soaking wet and covered with algae by a woman who called 911.

Dekzod Isokov, who said he was the child's uncle, told the Post Ruhshona and her brother wandered off as the family was barbecuing shish kabobs.
