2011 Giants anthem after Posey injury? Feeling like a Giant says superfan Ashkon
Do the 2011 San Francisco Giants have a new anthem? We all remember last year's anthem made famous by baseball announcers Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper Giants Baseball: Torture. Tortuous baseball was good enough to win the Giants a World Series.
The 2011 edition of the Giants have a noticeably different feel to them.
First, although the Giants are still playing many close games, the championship has given them a new swagger, a confidence that has allowed them to be 11-1 in one run ballgames at home.
Second, the crushing blow of Buster Posey's injury on Wednesday night has hit the team and its fans hard. The Giants are seeking to rally following the injury, since a World Series repeat is still the goal of this team.
Enter a new possible anthem for the 2011 Giants.
During last year's playoff run, Ashkon Davaran, known more simply by his first name Ashkon, created a web sensation hit with his music video to the theme of Steve Perry's Don't stop believing song. The song, which got over 2 million hits, featured fans in the park, shout-outs to Giants baseball personalities, and became the anthem throughout the playoffs.
On Wednesday, coincidentally prior to Posey's injury, CSN Bay Area released a new music video by Ashkon as part of their Authentic Fan series. The video, entitled Feeling Like a Giant features Ashkon and Bailey and primarily shows the fan experience at AT&T Park during the Giants home games.
Notable inclusions in the new video are appearances by players and personalities of the organization, mention of the team's stellar pitching, and mention of the team's struggle to gain respect following the World Series.
The video is already being promoted by local media including CSN Bay Area and KNBR.
The Giants may need a new anthem to rally behind to recover from Posey's injury and make playoff run. Will it become the web sensation that the Ashkon's previous video was? Is Feeling Like a Giant the anthem for this year's team?
