2012 Orange Bowl Halftime: West Virginia Put a Clinic on Clemson
The West Virginia Mountaineers have put on a clinic so far in the 2012 Orange Bowl, capping a 49-point first half, an NCAA bowl record for the most points scored in one half by one team. What's more eye-opening is that only four Orange Bowl teams have ever scored more than 42 points through a full game, let alone a half.
The score at the half was WVU 49, Clemson 20.
WVU's return specialist and standout wide receiver Tavon Austin leads the way with three receiving touchdowns, making quarterback Geno Smith look squeaky clean.
Clemson's is going to have to use their fast-paced offense to get back in the game, something the Mountaineers seem to have mirrored very well. QB Tajh Boyd has had a few flaring plays, but now seems relatively obscure. Tailback Andre Ellington has 116 rushing yards and is doing his part.
In seven offensive drives, WVU has scored five touchdowns. Oh, and the two teams have combined for 670 total yards, which is on pace to shatter yet another Orange Bowl record.
