Louis Vuitton was all over the red carpet at the 2016 Met Gala in New York Monday. Many celebrities opted for a design by the French fashion house for one of fashion’s biggest nights. However, it was Louis Vuitton’s chunky, hiker-inspired boots that dominated the “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” themed-gala.

Louis Vuitton’s hiker boots made its debut on the 2016 Met Gala red carpet which was a complete surprise. “The Danish Girl” star and Oscar winner Alicia Vikander made a bold footwear choice when she arrived at the event wearing the label’s fall 2016 boots. The Swedish beauty, who just bagged the role of Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider, opted for an unconventional look in striking a pair of red, black and bronze Louis Vuitton boots that she teamed up with a matching minidress from the same label.

The brand ambassador of Louis Vuitton, Alicia is known to be Hollywood’s newest fashion risk taker. “I would be able to dance all night in these shoes!” said the 27-year-old actress. The boots also added some height to her frame.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift who was the event’s co-chair also sported a head-to-toe Louis Vuitton look. The singer opted for a silver snake skin minidress that featured side cutouts, and a tiered ruffle skirt. The “Bad Blood” singer pulled off the edgy futuristic look with a pair of statement-making shoes.

Taylor’s head-turning black gladiator boots featured below-the-knee caged peep toe detailing. It also had high heels. According to Vogue, Louis Vuitton’s fashion hiking boots are the fall’s most coveted footwear.

Selena Gomez stepped out in a pair of bold black Louis Vuitton lace-up boots with white laces. The lug-soled boots appeared to be very sturdy. She paired it with black and white gown plunging gown with polka dots and a black leather bralette.

She wore her long hair into a sleek and sky high ponytail. Selena accessorized with a chunky diamond bracelet, carried a black and white box clutch and wore a slick of brown lipgloss. Meanwhile, Michelle Williams also opted for a navy Louis Vuitton vest paired with a black mini skirt. She teamed up her look with black chunky hiker boots from the fashion house. The new shoe trend is a fresh departure from dainty sandals in the past years.
