The last few days have given into a number of recalls that may have you questioning what is safe for you or even your pets to consume. These are the recalls that have hit the public recently that consumers should be aware of.

Dog Food

Sunshine Mills recalled three sizes of its Nature’s Promise Chicken & Brown Rice dog food for elevated levels of vitamin D. Vitamin D can produce an adverse effect in dogs and consumers are being urged to stop feeding their pets this dog food immediately. A full refund of the products can be obtained at the store of purchase. (Recalled on Nov. 21)

Beef

Swift Beef recalled 99,260 pounds of raw ground beef for E.coli contamination. The recalled ground beef was produced on Oct. 24. It has an establishment number of EST. 628 inside the USDA mark of inspection. (Recalled Nov. 20)

Majestic Meat Company recalled 532 pounds of ground beef products that also tested positive for E.coli. The recall includes bulk ground beef, ground beef patties, and meatballs – all produced by Majestic Meat on Nov. 8. The ground beef products have an establishment number of EST. 19915 inside the USDA mark of inspection. (Recalled Nov. 20)

JBS Tolleson recalled 6.9 million pounds of beef that may be contaminated with Salmonella. This includes ground beef packaged by the company between the dates of Jul. 26, and Sept. 7. The contaminated beef has an establishment number of EST. 267 within the USDA mark of inspection. (Recalled Nov. 16)

Chicken

Deleite Foods Enterprises recalled 11,000 pounds of marinated, raw poultry products that were shipped to restaurants in Utah because of an undeclared allergen. The poultry products contained wheat and soy, which could produce an adverse reaction in some consumers. The recall includes marinated diced chicken thigh meat that was produced and packaged on Oct. 12 to 16 in 30-pound cases. The chicken has an establishment number of P-46130 inside the USDA mark of inspection. (Recalled Nov. 20)

Romaine Lettuce

The Center for Disease Control issued a warning to consumers to not eat any romaine lettuce due to an E.coli outbreak. This includes any form of romaine including premade salad mixes that include the lettuce variety as well as thoroughly washing the container the lettuce was stored in. The CDC has not identified where the infected lettuce is from but has issued the warning for all romaine consumption. This is a separate outbreak from the April 2018 incident. (Recalled Nov. 20)

Cereal

The Quaker Oats Company recalled a low number of Cap’n Crunch Peanut Butter Crunch cereal for a potential salmonella risk. The recall affected just 21 boxes of the cereal which were sold at five different Target stores in Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas. (Recalled Nov. 20)

Everything recalled over the last few days including meat, dog food, and romaine lettuce. An informational notice regarding replacement ground beef hangs near a food cooler at a Cub Foods grocery store December 4, 2000 in Niles, IL. The nation''s tenth-largest retail supermarket chain, SuperValu Inc., has voluntarily recalled ground beef products from Cub Foods stores and other markets in the Midwest for possible E. coli contamination after at least 22 people reported becoming ill, the U.S. Agriculture Department (USDA) reported.
