23-Tech Companies including Apple, Microsoft get sued
Twenty three tech companies are sued for patent infringement filed by a company named Tsera, LLC in the Eastern District of Texas in a Tyler court
The allegations made by Tsera are that the 23-Tech companies violated Tsera's patent for touch-sensitive interfaces.
The Patent 6,639,584 was granted to Tsera in October 2003 covers different swipe movements on a touchpad controlling a portable electronic device without having to provide visual feedback.
The 23-Tech Companies are Apple Inc., Auditek Corp., Bang & Olufsen Ameerica, Inc., Bang & Olufsen A/S, Coby Electronics Corp.,, Cowon America, Inc., Cowon Systems, Inc., Dane Elec Corp. USA, Data Station, Inc., IMA-Hong Kong, Ltd., Impecca USA, Inc., iRiver, Inc., Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V., Lasonic Electronics Corp., LG Electronics U.S.A., Inc.,, LG Electronics, Inc., LG Electronics Mobilecomm U.S.A., Inc., Mach Speed Technologies, Inc., Meizu Technology Co., Ltd., Microsoft Corp., Philips Electronics North America Corp., Spectra Merchandising International Inc. and TrekStor GmbH & Co. KG.
Among the defendants, Tsera is concentrating its focus on Apple Inc which Tsera says that the later knows the Patent since 2004 but ignore it. The company is seeking significant damages and royalties from all the defendants.
