3 Biggest ‘DOOL,’ ‘Y&R’ And ‘B&B Storylines In 2019
Another year is coming to a close, meaning that a whole new slew of dramatic storylines will soon begin to unfold on daytime soap operas like “Days of Our Lives,” “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
However, before a brand new year of drama, let’s take a look back on some of the bigger storylines which unfolded over the course of 2019.
“The Bold And The Beautiful” (CBS)
The Beth/Phoebe Baby Mama Drama
If one storyline characterized all the drama which unfolded on “Bold and the Beautiful” this year, it circled around the entire Baby Beth storyline. Following Hope’s (Annika Noelle) early labor on Catalina in January, she was led to believe that her daughter, Beth, hadn't survived. In reality, Dr. Buckingham (Wayne Brady) had switched her daughter with a dead baby and sold her to Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) under the guise that she was really adopting Flo’s (Katrina Bowden) daughter. Steffy then raised the little girl, who she named Phoebe, for months, as Hope grieved, ended her marriage to Liam (Scott Clifton) and married Thomas (Matthew Atkinson)--as he and others conspired to keep the truth from her.
However, even the truth getting out over the summer didn’t put an end to the drama in the story. While Hope got her daughter back and was able to reunite with Liam, she has still been the source of Thomas’ obsession, leading to more entanglements. In addition, the disagreements over Thomas have caused more tension at Forrester with Steffy and others and even led to Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge’s (Thorsten Kaye) marriage falling apart as well. It doesn’t look like there is an end in sight just yet for all the pain this storyline will cause.
“Days Of Our Lives” (NBC)
The Big Time Jump
Several huge moments took place in Salem this year, including elaborate schemes, death threats and so much more. However, the biggest thing to occur was likely the huge time jump that took place in November, leaping everything forward to one year after Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) was pushed from the balcony of a building by Princess Gina (Kristian Alfonso). Since the jump, so much has changed in Salem, with several shocking deaths revealed, unexpected members of the community behind bars and even the shocking return of Stefano—in Steve Johnson’s (Stephen Nicholls) body.
“The Young and the Restless” (CBS)
Adam’s Return
Hands down, the biggest story to rock Genoa City in 2019, a year which saw a lot happen, was the return of none other than Adam Newman (Marc Grossman). After he got his memories back, he wasted no time wreaking havoc on everyone’s lives, especially those in his family. Among his plots was one where he tried to change Victor’s (Eric Braden) medications in an effort to get revenge for an attempt on his own life—one his father wasn’t responsible for. When Victor and the rest of the family realized what he was up to, they faked Victor’s death to try and get payback. It worked and drove him out of town for a little while. However, he has since returned again, and he is still trying to do whatever he can to get what he wants.
