A house party in Colorado came to an abrupt end after the floor collapsed and sent party-goers tumbling down into the basement. Responders arrived at the scene to find about 100 teens in the street.

The party was reportedly attended by around 100 to 150 teenagers at an Arapahoe County residence Saturday night, according to Miami Herald. South Metro Fire Rescue (SMFR) and deputies from the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about an “an unknown medical problem” and arrived at the scene at around 9:40 p.m.

“A 911 caller reported that ‘people were dying’ and hung up. Upon arrival, emergency personnel observed over 100 juveniles in the street and discovered that a large portion of the first floor collapsed into the basement,” SMFR said in a statement on Facebook.

“We saw a lot of people out in the street. Some of them were pretty panicked, so the crew changed into rescue mode,” Eric Hurst, Public Information Officer for South Metro Fire Rescue, told CBS Denver.

Witnesses reported that five people were still trapped inside the basement; however, firefighters eventually found that no one was left behind in the debris and everyone had made it out to safety, the statement said.

Firefighters said the house was badly damaged and found a ruptured natural gas line that further complicated the situation. The team searched the house and worked to stabilize the collapsed structure.

Three individuals were injured in the incident and taken to the hospital; one of them had sustained serious injuries.

Hurst told CBS Denver that people were able to exit from the house by climbing a staircase that was still standing. “It was also possible for people to evacuate out of egress windows in the basement,” he added.

A group of friends, who were seniors from Eaglecrest High School, said they were on their way to the party when they heard about the collapse. “We just picked up our friend and the next Snap was the basement collapsing,” one of them told the outlet.

“He was like dude I literally got chills just look at this,” his friend reportedly added.

A video of the party posted on social media captured a large group of party-goers jumping on the first floor in the lead-up to the collapse, the fire department said.

“Numerous people violently fell into the basement and it's truly remarkable that no deaths or additional injuries occurred,” the fire department added in their social media statement. “A Building Department official confirmed that too many people (approximately 100-150) were occupying the space and their weight caused the floor to buckle.”
