Three people were killed, including two young children, during a shooting inside a Denver home early Wednesday morning.

A third child was wounded in the shooting and taken to Denver Health Medical Center in critical condition, the Associated Press reported.

KUSA, which is live streaming news of the shooting, said the third child was a girl.

Denver police hinted that they believe the shootings were a murder-suicide. They said no arrests were made in the incident, and they did not believe a mass shooter was behind the murders, Major Crimes Cmdr. Ron Saunier told the AP. Authorities also said there was no reason to believe the murderer was on the loose.

"Is there a mass killer or someone running around? At this time we don't believe so," he said.

Denver Police Lt. Matt Murray confirmed that the shooting “appears to be an isolated incident,” according to the Denver Post.

Two young children, a boy and a girl, were found dead at the home near East 49th Avenue and Pearl Street in northeast Denver, KUSA reported.

Debbie Martinez, who lives near the home where the shooting occurred, said her neighbors moved in about six months ago and remodeled the house. She said three children and two adults lived at the home, according to the AP.

"They seem like outgoing people. They didn't bother anybody," Martinez said.

Her account differed from the one given to the Denver Post by Frank Jersin. Jersin, 57, told the paper he hasn’t seen the lights on in the house for two years.

“It seems real strange. It’s kind of a mother-in-law house, behind a big house,” Jersin said. “Both houses have been vacant for two years.”

Police were waiting for a search warrant early Wednesday morning to scour the home for clues about the shooting.

The incident rocked the northeast Denver neighborhood, where neighbors reported hearing shots around 5 a.m. Wednesday.

"Right after that a truck took off really fast," Rosalindo Bustillos, who works for a business on the same block as the shooting, told the Denver Post. "It's just scary because we all know each other around here, and we've been here several years. This has never happened around here, and I thought it never would."

Jose Rojas, pastor of the nearby Providence Bible Church, said he was praying for the community.

"This is the horror of the whole country. There are all these shootings," he told the AP. "I think it's too much, too much to see innocent people being killed."
