In a shocking incident of animal cruelty, three men were caught on video tying a dog to a two-wheeler and dragging it along while riding at high speeds. The event occurred Tuesday evening in Pune, a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

The dog was seen running behind the vehicle to keep up in an effort to avoid being dragged. The men were confronted by passersby and when asked about the same, they said “the dog bites” and that “it has gone crazy”. The dog was eventually freed by the people.

A video shared by one person present at the spot showed the three people riding a two-wheeler. The post on Facebook, shared by Gaurav Gupta, read, “On the evening of Nov 5, these three guys were dragging an animal from a scooty and were enjoying this.” Pointing out their insensitivity, Gupta said the three men threatened him and others when they tried to record it. He added, “Although, with the help of a lady named Henna, we saved the dog.”

“The dog was shivering and its legs were swelling. But the question is how can someone do this to an animal? Are these guys mentally retarded? Don’t they feel any empathy towards animals? How would they feel if someone drags them even for a kilometer,” Gaurav added.

Urging the public to help spread the message against such acts, Gaurav said, “It’s easy to feel despair when we hear about such acts of hurting animals. But it takes a little courage to come forward and help those who are in need especially animals who can’t ask for help or kindness.”

No further details were available on the issue and no arrests were reported.
