3 New Things We Know About ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 8

With officially less than one month to go before the final season of “Game of Thrones” finally airs, more information is finally beginning to leak about what fans can expect when the show makes its epic last return to television screens.

Following the release of the show’s Season 8 trailer, HBO and the show’s cast have allowed other information about the series to leak, though naturally, the particulars like who will live or die and who will actually be sitting on the Iron Thrones when the series ends aren’t being spoiled. Still, with at least a little more information available, fans can definitely keep looking forward to the series’ return.

Here are three new pieces of information we learned this week about the final season of “Game of Thrones.”

The Official Episode Run Times

Though earlier reports claimed to reveal how long the show’s final six episodes would run, HBO finally confirmed the times this week, and naturally, fans are already predicting that some major events are going to take place during the longest of them, which happens to be the third episode airing.

While the first two episodes are fairly standard, running at 54 and 58 minutes respectively, episode three kicks off the longer run times, running for 82 minutes (1 hour and 22 minutes). The action runs four minutes shorter in week four before the penultimate and finale episodes run for a grand total of 80 minutes each.

The Series Finale Date

Though it’s hard to believe and fans may not want to accept that the series has come to an end, that is, in fact, the case. Along with the runtimes of the episodes, HBO released the airdates for each, and May 19, 2019, is set to go down as potentially the saddest day in the history of “Game of Thrones” fandom—because it will be the show’s official curtain call.

“Stuff Happens” Between Two Of The Biggest Female Characters

Fans got a small tease of the first time Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and Sansa (Sophie Turner) meet with a very short teaser that was released by HBO in January. In that scene, fans saw as Dany first arrived in Winterfell, and Sansa welcoming her the same way her father, Ned (Sean Bean) welcomed King Robert (Mark Addy) in the show’s pilot episode. Now, in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Clarke revealed a small piece more of what might happen with that scene.

“She starts feeling pretty cocksure and confident, and then stuff happens,” she teased of Dant’s first meeting with the Lady of Winterfell.

“Game of Thrones” returns for a final season on Sunday, April 14 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
