Prince Harry has several reasons why he wants to escape Prince William’s shadow.

The Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex were very close growing up. When Prince William married Kate Middleton, Prince Harry was like a third wheel to the couple. The three royals always attend royal engagements together leading royal fans to call them “the royal trio.”

However, after marrying Meghan Markle, Prince Harry decided to have a separate home from his big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved out from Kensington Palace earlier this year. They also decided to leave the charity they used to share with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

According Stefan Preston, there are various reasons why Prince Harry wanted to leave Prince William’s shadow.

1. Prince William was always the focus

The Duke of Cambridge is second-in-line to the throne. Since he is the future king, he always has the spotlight. Meanwhile, Prince Harry was called the “spare” his entire life.

Princess Diana revealed earlier that she showered more love to Prince Harry because her two boys were not treated equally. Prince William is always favored, so to compensate this, the People’s Princess poured more love and attention to the Duke of Sussex.

2. Prince Harry was the third wheel for Prince William and Middleton

When Prince William and Middleton’s relationship took center stage, Prince Harry was usually there tagging along. The media even casually referred to him as the third wheel.

It wasn’t a big deal to the couple though. Middleton and Prince Harry were very close. Prince Harry was reportedly a regular guest to the couple’s home. In fact, Prince William, Middleton and Prince Harry looked so happy before Markle joined the royal family.

3. Prince Harry and Prince William’s split was doomed

When Prince Harry married Markle he was expected to live his own life as a married man, a husband and a father. According to an insider, Prince William and Prince Harry’s split was expected.

“William has always supported his brother and has given him time to make the decisions he need, but equally he always knew there would come a time that their paths had to diverge, and with a new wife and a baby on the way, now seems like that moment,” a source revealed before Prince Harry and Markle welcomed their son Archie.
