A Utah woman died in Grand Canyon National Park on Monday after falling from a major drop while on a private boating trip.

Margaret Osswald, 34, from Salt Lake City suffered fatal injuries when she fell about 20 feet near Ledges Camp on the Colorado River around 6:30 p.m. She was announced dead on the scene at 8:30 p.m., the National Park Service said in a Tuesday press release.

“Osswald hiked into the canyon to meet the river trip at Phantom Ranch and was on day 6 of a multi-day private boating trip. An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner. No further information is available at this time,” the release added.

The group Osswald was with noted that she was unresponsive following the fall and that CPR was attempted.

In March, a similar situation occurred when a 68-year-old woman from Steamboat Springs, Colorado, died while on a private boating trip in Grand Canyon National Park as well. It was reported that the woman fell into the whitewater rapids.

There has been a total of four people who have died at Grand Canyon National Park this year, according to a park spokeswoman.
