39-Year-Old Former Olympic Boxer Arrested For Alleged Plans On Mass Shooting In Florida

A former Olympic boxer has reportedly been arrested for allegedly planning a mass shooting at a gym in Florida.

The suspect was identified as Azea Agustama. He was arrested on Tuesday, November 23, and is facing two counts of making written threats, to commit a mass shooting/terrorism and a county of making a written threat to kill or cause bodily harm.

WFLA reported that the Haitian pugilist had made multiple threats on social media about allegedly harming or killing employees at the BOXR Gym located in Miami, Florida.

The threats allegedly came 11 days after the 39-year-old boxer's membership.

According to an arrest report obtained by WTJV, the membership of Agustama was revoked after he got into an argument with an unnamed individual.

He was allegedly working as a personal trainer at the time before the said incident.

It was also added that Agustama had called the cops on Tuesday before the alleged threats, believed to be a means to determine if he could go back to the gym for him to get his personal items.

In one of the posts that Agustama put up, there was a photo of the gunman from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that had a long caption that said he had been thinking about shooting multiple people at the gym.

Agustama was likewise quoted that he was "willing to shoot with a actual [sic] gun or bazooka for righteousness sake."

Aside from this, the retired boxer also allegedly sent a photo of one of his intended targets to a witness.

"He's first when I get my gun or with something else first," the post read.

Furthermore, it was found that Agustama had placed a $150 deposit for an AK-47 at a pawnshop in Opa-Locka.

He would be taken into custody at the pawnshop and is now being held on a $3 million bond.

During his prime, Agustama represented Haiti in the 2008 Beijing, China Olympic Games.

Also in that same year, he won the gold medal in the National Golden Gloves tournament.

As a professional, he holds a record of 18 wins and two losses.

He last fought Andy Perez on November 8, 2014, winning the vacant WBC Fedelatin light heavyweight title.
