They may both be getting married at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Palace, but Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie’s weddings won’t be entirely identical.

The cousins, who are set to marry Meghan Markle and Jack Brooksbank respectively in May 2018 and later this fall, will see some similar elements to their weddings, due to some standard English and royal family traditions.

According to Marie Claire, there are several strict traditions members of the royal family are expected to follow when it comes to their wedding day. Some of the traditions include ones stating that the bride must wear white, the reception must include two cakes (one is a fruitcake), and that a bride must always carry a sprig of myrtle in her bouquet.

However, there may be breaks in tradition at both royal affairs, to accommodate customs Markle, who is American, may want to incorporate into her wedding. In addition, following their unorthodox engagement announcement (which featured an informal selfie over a formal photograph), there are changes that Princess Eugenie and her fiancé may also choose to break from tradition.

While there may be unique and subtle differences based on style, there will however be some other specific ways that the two weddings may differ from one another.

The Lack Of A Bank Holiday

While Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding was a bank holiday, meaning the British people had the day off from work to celebrate the couple, neither Harry and Meghan nor Eugenie and Jack’s weddings will have that luxury, albeit for different reasons.

While both weddings aren’t likely to be bank holidays due to how far down the line of succession both royals are (after William and Kate have their third child in April Harry will become sixth in line for the throne, while Eugenie will be pushed into the ninth spot), Harry and Meghan’s actual chosen wedding date wouldn’t have qualified them for a bank holiday anyway. The pair are set to wed on May 19, which is a Saturday, meaning many workers in the country would have the day off anyway.

Television Coverage

While a bank holiday isn’t going to be declared for either of the royal weddings, everyone who wishes to will be able to tune in for Harry and Meghan’s wedding, as it is still expected to be televised live around the world. However, because Eugenie is not considered a fulltime member of the royal family, her wedding will more likely just be featured in television news reports.

Guest Lists

The guest list at both weddings may include some celebrities mixed in with members of the royal family and other dignitaries. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding is likely to include some Hollywood celebrities that Markle is friends with, as well as some of the cast members from her former show, “Suits.” The various members of the royal family will also be present, and even Harry’s ex, Chelsea Davy, is likely to score an invitation.

However, Eugenie’s wedding won’t have as much of a Hollywood presence, and it’s expected she will also certainly invite Middleton’s siblings, Pippa and James, as well as Pippa’s husband and James’ girlfriend, because Eugenie and Jack were guests at Pippa’s wedding, while James and his girlfriend Donna were at Eugenie’s 25th birthday party.

As for Harry’s exes, while Davy could score an invite to his wedding, his other ex, Cressida Bonas, may be at Eugenie’s wedding, as the two are close friends.

Wedding Party

Both Princess Eugenie and Markle could break tradition when it comes to their wedding parties. Markle is expected to have asked her stylist and best friend Jessica Mulroney to be her Maid of Honor/Chief Bridesmaid, and there have been rumors she would potentially ask actress friend Priyanka Chopra to be a bridesmaid as well. Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, will not be in her bridal party, as she is the future Queen Consort when William becomes king after Prince Charles, and it is unlikely she would be an attending person to another royal bride as a result.

As for Eugenie, her Chief Bridesmaid is expected to be her sister, Princess Beatrice. As for other members of her wedding party, Bonas could feature prominently there, as could other friends Molly Whitehall and Jules de Boinville.
