4-Year-Old Boy Fastens Cycle Lock Around Mom's Neck, Woman Suffers For Hours (Video)

The mother of a 4-year-old child was left to suffer for hours after the boy playfully fastened a bicycle lock around her neck. The mother was unable to free herself as the child inadvertently changed the number code, leaving her with no option but to call emergency services.

The incident occurred in the Jiangsu province in China on Oct. 7, reported AsiaOne. The child was playing with the lock when he discovered how to use it. He then tried it on his mother's neck. The mother played along as she knew the combination to unlock it. However, to her shock, she discovered that the boy had accidentally changed the unlock code.

"I was cleaning the toilet at that time, my son was playing with the bicycle lock next to me. He suddenly put it around me and locked it. I couldn't unlock it with the code I had set and I had no idea how many times he changed it, so I panicked," the mother told the firefighters, according to AsiaOne .

The woman then rushed to the nearby police station in a state of distress. The officers there then alerted the Fire And Rescue personnel.

They placed a small towel between the lock and the woman's neck before using a pair of wire cutters and a plier to remove the lock. A video of the ordeal was posted online and went viral on Chinese social media site Weibo, following which the incident came to light.

In the footage, an emergency service personnel is heard telling the woman, "you should bring your son here, we'll help educate him." However, the woman chuckles, adding that he is asleep at home and she has already punished him for his bad behavior.

While many who saw the video were amused by the boy's antics, others suggested there might be a greater issue at hand that needs to be addressed.

Another person commented that parents need to set boundaries for their children and teach them to tell right from wrong. "A typical example of failure to teach children about boundaries, I did not laugh at all after watching this. Even if it's between parent and child, boundaries have to be set for all actions and words, children cannot cross these boundaries," she wrote.
