All of us are used to eating food in various combinations- to enhance the taste, for nutrition and sometimes simply because you want them both. But experts slam some of these combinations as harmful and explain that they can cause health problems, and sometimes get deadly. Continue reading to find out some of the most dangerous food combinations and why you should consider avoiding them.

  1. Meat and Potatoes: When you consume a protein with a carbohydrate, it can counteract. Since protein putrefies and carbohydrates tend to ferment, you can experience bloating, gas and flatulence. Better alternatives for consuming carbohydrates alongside proteins would be beans and rice.
  2. Bacon and Eggs: Although this is a very popular breakfast combination, since they are both high sources of protein, it can tax your digestive system and make it longer to get digested. And although the high amounts of protein in the egg and the fat content in the bacon can give you instant energy, you will end up feeling lethargic very soon.
  3. Oatmeal and Orange Juice- Though it can make a good breakfast option, you need to avoid it because the acids in the orange juice can destroy the enzymes needed for the digestion of starches present in the oatmeal. Plus, if you make oatmeal with milk, the orange juice can end up curdling the milk and create a heavy mucus-forming substance.
  4. Yogurt and Fruits: Although it can be a yummy delight, you should consider avoiding it since the enormous amounts of bacteria in the yogurt can combine with the sugar in the fruits, causing cold, allergies and toxins. You could opt for unflavored yogurt and toss in some raisins, cinnamon or honey to give it an added flavor.
  5. Banana and milkshake: Who doesn’t like a banana milkshake? But bananas, when combined with milk, can make a bad combination. Since it can sit heavily in your stomach and can even slow down your mind. But if you cannot resist a banana milkshake, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to help stimulate digestion.
