When the temperature is at its peak, people turn to cooler and relatively lighter fares. No one wants to turn on their oven in the summers, but that certainly doesn't mean one has to completely forgo desserts. When it comes to beating the summer heat, sorbets are heroes.

Sorbets are made by blending sugar and in the right proportions and infusing it with fruity flavors, including strawberries, watermelon and raspberries. Sorbets have a high water consistency but that doesn't lessen their flavor.

The sufficiently churned and firmed-up sorbets can also be given a boozy spin by adding vodka or gin. However, those who are not into alcohol can skip this step. These sorbets are so intensely satisfying that even a naysayer would also ask for a second scoop.
