Five Indian YouTubers died in a road accident in the state of Assam over the weekend while returning from a shoot.

The group's vehicle, which had a total of eight passengers, was traveling along the National Highway 15 in the district of Darrang Sunday evening when it collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction of the expressway, The Independent reported, citing police officials.

"Five people in the car died on the spot, and three other passengers were seriously injured in the incident," a police official was quoted as saying by India Today.

The injured were initially treated at the Mangaldai Civil Hospital before being taken to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, CNN-News18 reported. All of the injured were in critical condition, according to the outlet.

The five deceased were later identified as Faridul Islam, Azad Ali and Ibrahim Ali as well as Saniya Akhtar and her mother Monowara Begum. Reports said Akhtar was aged 13 or 14, while the other passengers' ages were not disclosed.

Islam, Azad and Ibrahim were out on a shoot for their YouTube channel "SR Official" and had hired Akhtar to accompany them, as per the Independent. The 13-year-old, who had around 1,000 followers on Instagram, also had her own YouTube channel called "SH Product."

The two channels were reportedly launched 6 months ago and quickly gained popularity.

"[Akhtar] had a lot of dreams, and today all of them ended," a family member was quoted as saying by the Guwahati Plus.

The teen’s family has called on the Assam government to provide them with financial assistance as she was reportedly the breadwinner of her family.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, senior chief minister of Assam, released a statement following the road accident.

"[Minister Sarma] expressed his deep sorrow over the death of 5 persons at a road accident at Besimari, Darrang. The [chief minister] offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for [the] quick recovery of the three injured persons," read the statement, which was posted on Twitter.

Locals had demanded that district authorities take steps in reducing accidents along the sharp bends where the crash occurred.

It was unclear if anyone was charged over the crash.
