50 Shades Of Grey To Begin Filming: Will The Film Be A Match For The Book? [VIDEO]
In less than three weeks, one of the most highly anticipated films of the year will begin shooting, "Fifty Shades of Grey." Based on the first book of E.L James' erotic trilogy, the film already comes with a cult following. The books have sold more 70 million copies around the world. But will the film live up to the hype?
The film will be shot in Vancouver, and the leads are both little-known: actor and model Jamie Doran as Christian Grey and actress Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele. Will the casting of two unknowns work in the film’s favor, as it did with the "Twilight" franchise?
The full cast list is yet to be revealed, although rumors are swirling that Rose McGowan and Katie Holmes could join the film. But how closely will the film follow the trilogy?
It has been reported that author James will have a strong presence on the set and was closely involved in the casting. But to get a commercially essential R rating, the film will necessarily be tamer in its sexual content, which hardcore fans of the trilogy may find disappointing.
The release date of the film has been pushed back by Universal Pictures and Focus Features from Aug. 1, 2014, to Feb. 13, 2015.
