6 Of The Craziest Meghan Markle Rumors Of The Year

To say it's been an eventful year for Meghan Markle would be a bit of an understatement, but what's even crazier are the rumors that have swirled about the royal. These very rumors are the reason the first time mom and her husband, Prince Harry, have started a legal case against the British tabloids, but that doesn't erase the wild things that have already been splashed all over the internet in 2019.

Below are six of the craziest Meghan Markle rumors of the year.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Divorce

When the Frogmore Cottage that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reside in was found looking a bit empty in June, many speculated that the couple had split. However, Anni Selby, a company head, offered some insight as to why onlookers may not have witnessed Meghan and Harry going entering or exiting the property.

"I don’t know if you realize this, but Windsor Great Park is huge, 5,000 acres in fact. It’s situated to the south of the town of Windsor and includes a deer park… The Long Walk runs not far from Frogmore Cottage which is south of Windsor town… Again, the entrances are closed at dusk," she explained.

She's Not Nice To The Staff

The former "Suits" actress apparently has a different approach when it comes to how she treats staff members. When compared to Duchess Kate Middleton in September, Meghan was deemed "difficult and demanding" -- enough to be branded the title of "Duchess Difficult."

This rumor also made its way around in 2018, and, at that time, multiple people defended Meghan, including her estranged father, Thomas Markle.

"She's always been very controlling, but she's never been rude," he told "Good Morning Britain" in December 2018. "She's always been polite."

Meghan Markle vs. Kate Middleton Feud

The media is constantly comparing Meghan and Kate, and they've even pitted the two against each other. While many reports insinuate that the two will "never be best friends," others insist that the women have actually become close and that Meghan seeks out advice from the future Queen of England.

"Kate was a great source of support to Meghan in the days leading up to Archie’s birth and, despite reports of a rift, they are family and have a really lovely friendship," royal writer Carolyn Durand shared in July. "Their relationship has constantly evolved over time and they have become closer since Meghan’s wedding."

"They talk and text regularly," she added. "They have more in common and Kate has wanted to make sure Meghan has felt welcomed to the family."

She Used Taxpayers Money For A $6K Copper Bathtub

In the 38-year-old's lawsuit against the Mail and its parent company, she denied rumors that she used taxpayer money to splurge on lavish extras during the remodel of the Frogmore Cottage where she resides. The tabloid claimed that Meghan upgraded the home to include a $6,500 copper bathtub, private yoga studio, tennis court, and guest wing for her mother.

She Didn't Invite Her Mother To Her Baby Shower

As most know, Meghan had a lavish baby shower in New York in February. Many stories emerged as a result of that event, with one claiming that she snubbed her mother, Doria Ragland, by failing to invite her to the party. However, that wasn't the case at all.

"The suggestion that the Claimant (Meghan) deliberately left out her mother from her baby shower and ditched her in favour of her famous friends is untrue and offensive to her," Markle’s lawyer said. "The Claimant’s mother was of course invited, and the Claimant also offered to buy her airline tickets. However, her mother was unable to attend due to work commitments."

There was also controversy surrounding the alleged cost and guest list for the baby shower, which were addressed in new documents from the Duchess' legal team.

"...The baby shower (which actually cost a tiny fraction of the $300k falsely stated in the article) was organized and hosted by one of her best friends from university," the court papers explained. "The fifteen guests who attended the shower were close friends and included long-term friendships some of which had existed for over 20 years."

Meghan Markle and Priyanka Chopra Feud

When Chopra failed to make it to Meghan's baby shower, Page Six claimed that it was due to the two ladies feuding. According to the site, the actress was holding a grudge against the Duchess for not attending her wedding to Nick Jonas the year prior.

Although representatives for the "Quantico" star declined to comment, a source close to the actress revealed that there is no bad blood between the women. Chopra even gushed over Meghan during a January 2018 interview with Harper's Bazaar Arabia.

"It’s natural for people to be like, 'Oh that’s Prince Harry’s girlfriend,' but she’s a lot more as well… So I do think Meghan being a part of the royal family is a big step in the direction of so many things; of women, of feminism, of diversity, of race, of the monarchy versus everyone else… It’s a beautiful step in the right direction," she said.
