You might be aware that a dental cavity is a hole in your tooth. But did you know that it is a result of the tooth decaying process that happens eventually? Be informed that you can interrupt that and reversing the process in order to avoid a cavity is very much possible. Find below some tips for preventing tooth decay and reversing cavities:

1. Use fluoride- It is the magic mineral that keeps tooth decays at bay. It can not only prevent the progression of tooth decays but also stop or reverse early tooth decays. Fluoride prevents mineral losses in your teeth enamel and replaces minerals that are lost. It also reduces the ability of bacteria in your mouth to secrete acid. You can opt for drinking fluoridated water or brush using fluoride toothpaste.

2. Follow a fundamental dental care routine- This overfamiliar advice really does work. The International Dental Health Association says that about 42% of adults worldwide use only a toothbrush for their oral care. To protect your teeth from early decay and to reverse decaying, include the steps in your dental care such as brushing, flossing, and rinsing your mouth using mouthwash twice daily.

3. Visit your dentist regularly- Like it or not, do visit your dentist for regular cleanings. It can help get rid of any plaque and tartar near your gum line on the back and front of your teeth. Regular cleaning is a crucial step in fighting against cavities. Ensure to get your teeth cleaned by your dentist at least a couple of times every year.

4. Include vitamins & supplements in your diet- A diet rich in fiber can promote salivation that can help fight dental plaque. And foods rich in iron and Vitamin-B can aid calcium absorption and strengthen your teeth.

5. Try coconut oil pulling- Coconut oil pulling is one natural way to prevent tooth decays. Coconut oil pulls out bacteria from your teeth and also heals them. Just swish one tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth for about 20 minutes until you feel your saliva has turned into a milky white color and then spit it out. Though this method cannot reverse tooth decay it can prevent further cavities.
