6-Year-Old Gangraped By Grandfather And Uncle In Front Of Toddler Brother, Bribed With Snacks

In a horrific incident, a 6-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by her grandfather and uncle in front of her toddler brother, police said Saturday.

The incident happened in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh last week but only came to light Thursday when the victim disclosed it to her mother. The accused men reportedly bribed the little girl with snacks and 30 cents to keep silent about the assault.

The victim’s mother noticed behavioral changes in the girl and asked her about it Thursday. The girl was initially terrified to reveal that her 48-year-old grandfather and 20-year-old uncle sexually assaulted her. She reportedly feared that she will be scolded but later confided in her mother, who reported it to the police.

“On Thursday evening, the survivor told her mother about the pain she was going through for the past several days. The mother coaxed the child to tell her everything after she realized that she was trying to hide something by washing her clothes,” police said, local news outlet India Today reported.

The girl told her mother that her uncle took her along with her 3-year-old brother to a relative’s house, promising that she can get some snacks on the day of the incident.

The girl’s uncle, along with her maternal grandfather, reportedly confined her to a room at the relative’s house before she was sexually abused in front of her toddler brother.

“Then, they gave her 20 Rupees (30 cents) to keep her mouth shut, bought samosa for her and drove the kids home,” Anjana Dhruve, Sub Inspector of police said, Times of India reported.

The police arrested both the suspects Friday on charges of rape and sexual offense against a minor.

In a similar incident, a man has been arrested in Madhya Pradesh after he allegedly raped an 8-year-old girl inside a grange vat and bribed her with 3 cents to stay quiet about the incident. The victim, whose identity has not been revealed, was allegedly raped while playing near her house. The police arrested the accused, a 30-year-old man identified as Ravi, on rape and criminal intimidation charges.
