The “Kate Effect” is in full force. For nearly 20 days, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, toured around New Zealand and Australia with Prince William and Prince George by her side. While her husband and baby were exceptional accessories, Middleton’s wardrobe has been making headlines all the same.
According to the Daily Mail, the contents of Middleton’s suitcases cost her £38,000, or $63,767, for nearly three weeks’ worth of clothes. Prices ranged from the most expensive — many bespoke creations made for Kate as well as a Spring 2012 Lela Rose dress costing more than $6,000 — to the cheapest, a Gap shirt that retails for $50.
The duchess wore an array of designers from her go-to favorite brands like Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham to high street favorites like Zara. And since she was Down Under, Middleton also paid homage to Australian sartorial superstars like Zimmermann. She also included all-American favorites like Diane von Furstenberg, Michael Kors, Tory Burch and Rebecca Taylor.
And, thanks to Middleton’s influence on fashion, many of the pieces she wore during her trip have already sold out, like the DVF and Zimmerman dresses that reportedly crashed their respective websites.
