7-Eleven (711) Free Slurpee Day Has Arrived! What?s Your Favorite Flavor?
Wednesday marks the day all of us sweating through the heat wave have waited for: 7-Eleven's (711) free Slurpee day!
On July 11, participating 7-Eleven stores nationwide and in Canada will hand out free 7.11 ounce Slurpee drinks, its own signature sweet-flavored frozen slushee beverage, until 7pm as a promotion for its birthday celebration.
Customers can simply ask for a free, 7.11-ounce Slurpee at participating 7-Eleven and Cinemark locations, while supplies last.
7-Eleven Day, or free Slurpee Day, gets bigger and more popular every year, Joe DePinto, 7-Eleven president and CEO, said in a statement. This year we expect to give away 7 million Slurpee drinks, more than ever before, beating last year's offer by 2 million. On July 11th, we at 7-Eleven will recognize our 85th year as the retail leader of convenience, and it will mark the 45th birthday of our iconic drink - the Slurpee. But the day is also when we do something special to thank customers for their support and welcome new guests.
This year, the Dallas-based company will also have birthday attire including tiny bowties, hair bows and two sizes of party hats for download at the 711 website. Cinemark will also honor Free Slurpee Day by giving free 7.11-ounce Slurpee drinks at participating theaters in Dallas, Houston, Salt Lake City and Portland from 7 to 11 p.m.
Six Flags also partnered with 7-Eleven this year offering a special admission price of $7.11 to guests after 7:11 p.m. on 7-Eleven Day when they present a receipt from a 7-Eleven purchase dated 7/11/12. Along with a VIP wristband for admittance to the Exclusive 7-Eleven Coasters After Dark event.
According to 7-Eleven vice president of brand innovation Laura Gordon, 7-Eleven will also debut new flavors: Fanta Sugar-Free Strawberry Banana and a delicious Fanta Lemon Crème.
7-Eleven, America's largest convenient store, began celebrating Free Slurpee Day in 2002 for its 75th birthday celebration, offering free drinks to its customers. And Free Slurpee Day is not a loss for the company; Two years ago for Free Slurpee Day, the stores saw a 38 percent increase in sales, as people flock for the giveaway and end up purchasing more gas, coffee and other top-selling convenience items.
With more than 46,800 stores worldwide, 7-Eleven generated over $76.6 billion in total sales last year.
