Here’s a list of the best incoming anime for the 2022 summer airing season starting this July.

Sequels and continuations

There’s no shortage of follow-up seasons and continuation cours this summer, and anime fans who have been following the latest shows will need no introduction to these titles.

  • “Overlord IV”
  • “The Devil Is A Part-Timer!” Season 2
  • “Rent-A-Girlfriend” Season 2
  • “Danmachi IV”
  • “Made In Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun”

The second season of “The Devil Is A Part-Timer!” is especially exciting. It’s been 11 years since the first season aired, and even though the light novel itself is already finished, the anime is just now getting its sequel.

“Call of the Night”

This story begins with Kou Yamori, an ordinary middle-schooler who develops a severe case of insomnia. After quitting school and wandering the streets at night to reinvigorate himself, he meets Nazuna Nanakusa, a mysterious girl who turns out to be one of the many vampires living in the city.

“Call of the Night” is animated by LidenFilms, the same studio that worked on the anime adaptation of “Tokyo Revengers.”

“Engage Kiss”

Shuu is a small business owner with reckless spending habits who often finds himself short on money. He is frequently aided by Kisara, a mysterious high schooler who handles his house chores, and Ayano, Shuu’s ex-girlfriend who deals with his finances.

Based on its trailer, “Engage Kiss” starts off as a seemingly normal slice of life rom-com anime until hostile monsters enter the scene. As it turns out, Shuu and Kisara are the only demon exterminators in the floating city of Veyron.

The anime blends fantasy adventure with slapstick romantic comedy that, if executed properly, might just end up as a big hit. “Engage Kiss” is animated by A-1 Pictures, which is best known for working on the likes of “Sword Art Online,” “Fairy Tail” and “Kaguya-sama: Love is War.”
