7-Foot-Long Rare Snake Found Coiled On Couch, Shocks Homeowner [Watch]
A California man had the shock of his life when he found a big snake coiled behind a pillow on his couch.
Upon finding the reptile, the homeowner immediately called snake removal expert Alex Trejo to his residence in Chula Vista.
“I literally lift the cushion and there this giant 7-foot Vietnamese blue beauty rat snake is just coiled up right behind the cushion,” Trejo – owner of So-Cal Rattlesnake Removal – told local television station KGTV.
He also posted a video of the encounter with the snake on his Instagram account on March 29. However, it wasn't clear when the video was taken.
"Massive snake found inside a home... Yes you read correctly! This 7ft Vietnamese blue beauty was found coiled up in someone’s couch. I received the call to come remove a snake that apparently was in their couch. Little did I know this was going to be the find of a life time," he captioned the video. "Upon arrival, they showed me where the snake was and I pulled back the cushion and there he was this beautiful Vietnamese blue beauty! You’ll never know how astounded I felt when I first saw the snake. I was completely blown away!"
"We got the snake out safe and sound. Who would love to join me on my next adventure because we will never know what could turn up! If that’s you then let me know," he added.
In the video, Trejo can be seen lifting the long, yellow and gray-colored snake off the couch. The reptile, which was not a native to the United States, attempted to bite the snake catcher.
“He didn’t get my skin, but he actually got the lining of my shirt,” Trejo said, adding the snake was most likely suffering from a respiratory infection.
The non-venomous snake was taken away from the home for treatment, Trejo said, adding a search was underway for its owner.
"...this fella was 7ft and for the sake of everyone around didn’t want to get bit. These rat snakes have a more defensive temper and will repeatedly strike," Trejo wrote as a reply when a user commented about the snake catcher being "more intimidated by that beauty than an actual rattlesnake."
The Blue Beauty Snake is originally found in Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar. According to Reptile Rapture, they are good climbers and skilled escape artists. They are native to Southeast Asia, as they like it warm.
