7 Nokia Android Phones Releasing In 2017: Reports
HMD Global seems to have pulled out all stops for the Nokia comeback in the 2017. This year, we might see more Nokia Android phones than expected.
Nokia is making its comeback at the MWC event in February 2017. The information was revealed in a slide shown off by Avaxx, a Nokia/Microsoft distributor in Malaysia, which says that “a total of 6-7 models” of Nokia Android smartphones will be released “by Q2 2017.”
Earlier, the expectation was that the company would release 3 phones — the budget D1C, the mid-range C1 and the flagship P1 this year sporting Android Nougat out-of-the-box.
Nokia has, in the past, tried its hand at Android with the Nokia X devices, but did not adopt the platform fully. Now that the ownership of the brand has been transferred to a new company, it seems there is a change in strategy.
In releasing so many smartphones, HMD Global is banking highly upon Nokia’s goodwill. The brand held considerable market share before Android devices emerged on the scene. In fact, before the Microsoft-Nokia deal was inked in 2014, the company had some level of success with phones such as Nokia 520.
