Having dogs and cats as pets is quite common but have you heard of someone who keeps snakes and tarantulas as pets? An eight-year-old girl from England is one such pet owner who is fascinated with these creatures.

Holly Greenhalgh became fascinated with spiders when she was two years old. She visited a museum exhibition about invertebrates and started asking her mother for a pet spider. Since then, she has gathered over 50 tarantulas, snakes, snails, scorpions and cockroaches. She keeps the pets in her bedroom and sleeps in the same room.

"When I started liking spiders and animals was when I was two. I saw a spider making a web and it was fascinating. Then I went to a museum and saw a tarantula and I started nagging my mum for one," Greenhalgh said when she appeared on "This Morning Today."

Greenhalgh then revealed that she has pet snakes, some of which managed to escape. She also said that she was bitten by three of the reptiles. She went on to say that she has too many tarantulas; hence, it was difficult to name all of them.

"My snakes have escaped. Some have names, for the tarantulas, we have to know what gender they are and have to wait for them to molt. I’ve kind of named them but there’s too many," she said.

When asked about what her school friends think about her pets, Greenhalgh said, "Some friends think they’re cool, some friends don’t really think they’re cool. I did a PowerPoint in year two about the animals and they kept nagging their mums to get one but their mums wouldn’t let them."

The girl also has a YouTube channel, Princess Sophie Pink, where she shares information about animals.

"My mission on YouTube is to spread that spiders and invertebrates are cute. But my proper mission is to meet David Attenborough," she said.

Meanwhile, her mother, Rachel, who has accompanied Greenhalgh on the show said she is still not "100% comfortable" with the girl’s pets.

"It's turned a lot into fascination now but I’m still not 100% comfortable with them. I’ve just seen how she is with them, she loves them," Rachel said.
