87-Year-Old Man's Good Health Despite Not Taking Bath For 67 Years Baffles Scientists
Scientists and researchers were baffled to see an 87-year-old man in Iran in perfect health, despite him not taking a bath for more than 67 years.
The man, who was identified as Amou Jaji, gave up washing as he believed it would bring him bad luck or kill him.
Jaji also doesn't eat regular food from the market, but lives on a diet that consists of roadkill such as porcupines and rabbits. To wash it all down, he reportedly drinks water from puddles, LadBible.
The man lives in a shack in the village of Dejgah located in Qarah Su Rural District, according to Times Now.
When some medics visited his shack and conducted tests, they were surprised he had no unhealthy bacteria or serious disease in his body. They were shocked to see despite his bizarre lifestyle, Jaji was healthy and living with good hygiene even though he skipped his bath.
Associate professor of parasitology, Dr Gholamreza Molavi, who carried out tests on Jaji for the School of Public Health in Tehran, said the 87-year-old managed to remain so healthy because he had developed an enormously strong immune system due to his diet and lifestyle.
Researchers aimed to find and study the parasites and bacteria that might have developed in his unwashed body. However, they soon confirmed Jaji's body didn't have any parasites or bacteria.
The tests carried out on him included everything from the various forms of hepatitis and AIDS through to parasites.
Several of those living near him had reportedly abused him and even threw things at him, thinking that he was an old, dirty man. The recent attention that he garnered also caused him trouble. However, Jaji managed to receive help from the local administration.
According to reports, the local governor has urged people to leave him alone, saying he has a gentle soul.
Local media did not reveal any details about his family or what had happened to them. It was also unclear why he chose such a lifestyle.
