9 Netflix Original TV Shows Premiering In April
Netflix is putting out some of the best TV available right now, so it isn’t surprising that their original shows garner so much attention. In April, the streaming platform will deliver a little bit of everything. Whether you’re looking for kid-friendly cartoons, raunchy comedies, talk shows or period dramas, Netflix has it all covered with the original series that are premiering in April.
“Chewing Gum” Season 2 — At 24 years old, Tracey Gordon (Michaela Coel) is a late bloomer, but the Beyonce-obsessed virgin is ready for adulthood. The British comedy is back and sure to put Tracey in even more awkward situations.
“Dawn of the Croods” Season 3 — The DreamWorks Animation sitcom is a prequel to the movie “The Croods.” Eep, Grug, Thunk, Ugga, Sandy and Gran will continue to encounter new creatures and traditions in Season 3.
“The Get Down” Season 1, Part 2 — April 7 — Baz Luhrmann’s teen music saga continues in 1978, one year after Part 1. Zeke (Justice Smith) and Mylene (Herizen Guardiola) will have to decide just how much they’re willing to sacrifice for their music.
“Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return” Season 1 — April 14 — The cult comedy is back to mock B-movies and make audiences laugh. The “MST3K” revival cast includes geek favorites like Felicia Day and Patton Oswalt.

“The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show” Season 4 — April 21 — The DreamWorks Animation series, which is made for kids, follows the smartest dog in the world, Mr. Peabody, and his owner Sherman. Together they host a late night comedy show in their penthouse apartment in front of a live studio audience.
“Girlboss” Season 1 — April 21 — This half-hour Netflix series is based on the true story of Sophia Amoruso, founder of women’s clothing retailer Nasty Gal. Britt Robertson plays the fashionista as she starts selling clothing on eBay and figures out how to launch a multi-million dollar company.
“Bill Nye Saves The World” — April 21 — The Science Guy is back with a talk show to discuss current topics with science. He’ll take on issues like global warming, GMOs and alternative medicine. Expect celebrity guests like Zach Braff, Rachel Bloom, Tim Gunn, Joel McHale and more. Model Karlie Kloss is also a correspondent.
“Tales By Light” Season 2 — April 21 — Netflix follows renowned photographers to exotic locations for new looks at other cultures and nature.
“Dear White People” Season 1 — April 28 — The controversial show already has people talking, and it hasn’t even started yet. The show, based on the 2014 movie, is a satirical half-hour comedy follows several students of color at Winchester University “as they navigate a diverse landscape of social injustice, cultural bias, political correctness (or lack thereof) and sometimes misguided activism in the millennial age,” according to Netflix.
