A 12-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was stabbed by his younger brother at their home in San Antonio, Texas, on Friday (June 19).

According to local reports, deputies responded to the 8600 block of Cape Valley Dr. on Friday night after receiving a report of a stabbing incident. The officers found the 12-year-old boy with stab wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors confirmed that he was stabbed twice on the back. The boy also had a severe cut on the forearm. His injuries were listed as life-threatening.

Meanwhile, preliminary investigation revealed that the boy was stabbed by his 9-year-old brother. The siblings were fighting over a blanket when the younger brother picked up a large kitchen knife and attacked the victim with it. The younger brother was taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation as he was too young to face charges.

An investigation into the case was ongoing. The identities of the victim and the accused were not revealed.

The incident comes days after a man in Layton, Utah, stabbed his brother in the neck during an argument. Preston Robert Johnson and his brother were having an argument during which Johnson went to the kitchen, grabbed a butcher knife and stabbed his brother in the neck in front of his 7-year-old son. The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. The accused was booked on suspicion of aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury and domestic violence in the presence of a child.

In another incident last month, a 17-year-old Florida boy killed his younger brother and stabbed his father. Daniel Weisberger stabbed his 14-yar-old brother multiple times in the neck before attacking his father, 43-year-old Ariel Jacob Poholek, with the same knife. He then fled the scene. The following day, the accused was taken into custody after he intentionally jumped in front of a vehicle.
