Aaron Carter, Girlfriend Melanie Martin Expecting First Child; Singer 'Won't Need Babysitter'

Aaron Carter and his girlfriend, Melanie Martin, announced that they are expecting their first child together.

Carter made shared the surprising news on April 21 via Instagram Live. The “I Want Candy” singer confessed that his girlfriend is pregnant and showed the pregnancy test result to the world.

“Obviously I have a baby on the way……I’m going to be a busy father for sure……This is the official announcement, we’re pregnant,” he said.

During his announcement, one viewer questioned his parenting skills. Carter replied and said he would be a “good father.”

“I won’t need a babysitter. I’m going to make a very good father. I’m all about love, give that baby nothing but love,” he said.

Carter also spoke with People and shared his excitement about becoming a dad.

“This is what we both want,” the artist said. “We both were trying for it. I’m just focused on the future and being a dad. I want to be a good dad. I’m focused, my music career has been doing really well, and touring, having my clothing line out, all that stuff I have going for me that isn’t necessarily just music. Family is most important to me.”

Carter is eager to be a dad. In 2018, before he met Martin, he spoke about his plans to have a family of his own.

“I’m going to be a good father. I know it,” he said after revealing that he is a bisexual. “I want lots of kids, lots of stability, lots of happiness and laughter and learning and having fun. It’s going to be good.”

“I want to have girls. Maybe it’s because of all my sisters and being a mama’s boy,” he added.

Carter made his relationship with Martin official in January. In February, he shared a snap of them kissing on Instagram and gushed about her.

“I’ve never met a woman more invested into me than you my darling @missmelaniemartin you've shown me a love that I never thought existed,” he wrote.

In March, Martin was arrested over a domestic dispute with Carter. The singer took to Twitter and announced that he was moving on.

“You don't have to wait for someone to treat you bad repeatedly. All it takes is once, and if they get away with it that once, if they know they can treat you like that, then it sets the pattern for the future,” he wrote.

He confirmed to People that he and Martin are back together because they realized that they love each other.
