Aaron Carter Plans To Sue Ex-Girlfriend For Defamation; Asks Johnny Depp's Lawyer For Help
Aaron Carter is planning to sue ex-girlfriend Melanie Martin for defamation after the latter claimed he broke several of her ribs during an altercation in March.
The 34-year-old "Blame It On Me" musician said he called the police after Martin turned up at his Los Angeles house Friday.
"She wouldn't leave. She was trying to trigger me into reacting, arguing and saying really foul things," he said in a video shared by TMZ.
Contrary to reports, Carter said his 10-month-old son, Prince, was not in the house when Martin visited.
Martin's mother temporarily gained custody of the child after the ex-couple was embroiled in a domestic dispute in March. Martin claimed Carter had broken three of her ribs. The "House of Carter" star denied the allegations at the time.
Martin later admitted she made up the "untrue" claims because she was suffering from postpartum depression, Page Six reported.
Meanwhile, the "I Want Candy" singer has voluntarily checked into an outpatient drug rehabilitation program to regain custody of Prince. He, however, claimed rehabilitation is not court-mandated and was a way for him to have his "son back."
"This will be my fifth time in rehabilitation, mainly to take care of aftercare. There's been no relapses. I haven't had any relapses ... it's just triggers are big right now for me. You know, so, I just, I want my son back," he said.
In the TMZ interview, Carter said Martin would just "walk around the house freely whenever she wants."
"I personally feel I deserve better," the singer said. "Unfortunately, it's gonna turn into a Johnny Depp/Amber Heard 2.0 because I have to sue her for defamation of character for lying about me for breaking her ribs...It almost ruined my career. So I have no other choice but to sue her."
He also made a plea to Depp's lawyer Camille Vasquez, saying, "Camille, if you hear this message please help me, call me, find a way to contact me personally and I would love to talk to you. I know that you can help me win this. I have the facts."
