Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady

With just over a month to go for the 2018 NFL season to begin, Fox Sports analyst and Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe made a bold claim that Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers was better than New England's Tom Brady.

Brady is regarded as the greatest quarterback of all time, having not only helped the Patriots to five Super Bowl wins, with no player winning it more times, but also being named MVP three times as well as boasting a record four Super Bowl MVPs.

Rodgers, in comparison, has just the one Super Bowl win while he has been named MVP twice and has one Super Bowl MVP to his name.

While Sharpe acknowledges that Brady will eventually leave the sport as the more accomplished quarterback, he still believes Rodgers is the superior quarterback when it comes to overall ability.

"Who's the better of the two? It's Rodgers. Who's the more accomplished of the two? Clearly, it's Tom Brady," Sharpe said, as quoted on CBS Sports. "But here's the thing… We have never, ever, in the history of football seen a guy that possesses what Aaron Rodgers possesses."

"Nobody, no quarterback in history, has the touch, the accuracy, the ability to throw the ball moving left or right, throw the ball from the pocket, throw the ball from different plains. No one has ever been able to do it with the accuracy that Aaron Rodgers has been able to do it."

Sharpe then named some of the greatest quarterbacks of all time and believes Rodgers is virtually a combination of their best attributes.

"Drew Brees has his accuracy. Montana has touch," Sharpe added. "Being able to throw the ball just purely from the pocket, Dan Marino was second-to-none, but when you combine everything, and then you throw on top of that, the dude got legs and can get out of harm's way. I don't really know why there's still a debate."

"There's not a throw that Tom Brady can make that Aaron Rodgers can't, but there are several throws that Aaron Rodgers can make that Tom Brady only dreams of making."

Rodgers and Brady have only met once during the regular season back in 2014 when the former led the Packers to a 26-21 win over the Patriots at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The two will likely meet each other this season when the Packers travel to the Patriots on Nov. 4 where Rodgers will notably play in Boston for the first time in his career.

But despite Sharpe's claims, Rodgers, 34, desires one thing the 40-year-old Brady has and that's his longevity in the sport.

"I can’t really rely on the chips on my shoulder, whether it was actual or perceived, that motivational stuff you use," Rodgers recently told the MMQB’s Albert Breer. "So you look for different ways to challenge yourself. For me, it’s that longevity now. We play at a high level, and 40 is an interesting number for quarterbacks. There haven’t been a lot of guys that have gotten there."

"Tommy was obviously incredible last year at 40, but there aren’t a lot of guys who can do that. ... Tom and I are close. We’ve talked about the stuff he does. I don’t swear off nightshades like he does, but I had a lot of room to grow in that area. I love sweets and food in general, so being smart about what I was eating tied to my performance."
