Abby Lee Miller Moves Forward With ALDC LA Studio Plans Amid Filming For 'Dance Moms' Season 5
It looks like the Abby Lee Dance Company is headed back to the West Coast. Following Abby Lee Miller's failed attempt to win big in Los Angeles with her famed elite junior team in the first several episodes of “Dance Moms” Season 5, the coach took her students back to Pittsburgh to perfect their craft. After scoring several first-place wins on their home turf, the Lifetime series lead recently announced she was taking her team back to Los Angeles. However, this time, it appears she now has plans to make the move a little more permanent.
TMZ reports that Abby, 48, is prepping to open ALDC LA (Abby Lee Dance Company Los Angeles). According to the site, the studio will be based in Santa Monica where the reality star is said to be currently renting an apartment. While Abby has yet to speak out about her studio plans in recent days, her co-choreographer and right-hand woman, Gianna Martello, recently revealed on Twitter she has relocated to L.A.
While Miller waits for her new studio space to be renovated, she has reportedly taken up residence in the same studio where the “Dancing with the Stars” contestants and their partners rehearse. Abby's use of the space isn't surprising considering she has guest starred as a judge on the hit ABC competition series. Her star pupil, Maddie Ziegler, also performed on the show last year alongside pop singer Sia.
After making frequent trips to Los Angeles with her team on "Dance Moms" for competitions, Abby announced her plans to open a studio in Hollywood in part one of the Season 4 finale of the Lifetime series in September. Despite weeks of preparation, Abby’s first trip to the West Coast was not a success. After failing to find appropriate rehearsal space, experiencing a run-in with some local talent and the ALDC’s failure to place first at their weekly competitions, the team headed back to Pittsburgh. In next week’s Season 5 installment Abby and her team will head back to L.A. Thankfully for Abby, it appears her second visit to the city of dreams will work more in her favor.
According to one “Dance Moms” spoiler site, the ALDC team’s first competition back in L.A., New York Dance Experience in Anaheim on Jan. 25, resulted in a big win for Abby’s studio. The site reports that the ALDC's group number ”Together We Stand” took home first-place in the pre-teen division and first overall. Their appearance at World-Class Talent Experience Invitational in Riverside, California, the following week also reportedly resulted in a first-place win for group’s dance titled “The Rose Garden.”
