The 83rd Academy Awards is around the corner and the hype for which movie will win Best Film is increasing. The competition is stiff for the many great movies that were released in the past year. This year, a wide variety of films are nominated including mysteries, thrillers, an animated film plus four movies that are based on a true story. The award for Best Picture is the biggest award of the night and previous winners include The Hurt Locker, No Country for Old Men and Slumdog Millionaire. Hosted by James Franco, who is nominated for an Oscar, and previous Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway, the Academy Awards will air on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.

Based on the story of King George VI of England, this movie focuses on the paralyzing stammer he’s been plagued with since childhood. While King George VI, played by Colin Firth, has given up on finding a cure, his wife urges him to seek the help Lionel Logue, a speech therapist.

While mountain climbing in Utah, Ralston, played by James Franco, falls into a canyon and his arm gets trapped under a boulder. This movie is based on the true story of Ralston’s fight for survival and how he spent days with limited food and water.
