Academy Awards 2015: Lego Oscars Given Out During 'Everything Is Awesome'; Watch Star Studded Performance Video
Neil Patrick Harris wasn’t the only one singing at the 2015 Oscars. Tegan and Sara and rap trio the Lonely Island performed “Everything Is Awesome” from “The Lego Movie” during the 87th annual Academy Awards. The tune is one of five songs nominated for best original song. Fellow nominee Adam Levine chose to keep his performance low-key with just some lights and an acoustic guitar. However, the “Everything Is Awesome” performers chose a flashy Lego-themed performance for the upbeat song.
The performance featured plenty of guests. While Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone make up comedic rap group the Lonely Island, they were joined by another comedian as well. Will Arnett dressed up as his animated character, Batman, to sing a quick solo. Questlove played the drums and Mark Mothersbaugh from Devo played the keyboard.
Performers even had special Lego Oscar statues on stage, and dancers started handing them out to people in the audience. “Foxcatcher” stars Steve Carell and Channing Tatum as well as “Selma” producer Oprah Winfrey received their own Lego Oscars.
