ACM Awards 2012: How To Recreate Taylor Swift’s Red Carpet Look [PHOTOS]
Taylor Swift might have taken home the biggest award of the night at the 2012 American Country Music Awards, but that was nothing compared to her stunning red carpet appearance before the show.
The 22-year-old singer snagged the award for Entertainer of the Year, a win she took home in 2011 as well, but this win paled in comparison to her stunning red carpet ensemble.
Taylor Swift opted for white for the 2012 ACM Awards. The blonde beauty went with a white J Mendel column gown that featured metallic bronze piping along the bust line and skirt as well as side cut-outs for a peek of skin. She paired her dress with Christian Louboutin heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.
Swift wore her blonde hair down in loose waves. This casual style was made sophisticated by Swift's thick fringe, a new 'do the young starlet first tried for her February 2012 cover of Vogue magazine. Bangs make the country cutie look decidedly more mature.
The singer kept her makeup sultry, with smoky brown shadow, luminous skin and pale lips.
Here is how you can create Taylor Swift's look for your next special occasion!
White Column Gown with Piping
Taylor Swift's J Mendel gown was both sleek and stunning. The brilliant white shade complemented by the metallic piping and cut-outs was a red carpet winner.
If you want to get a dress like Swift's, the piping is the main feature to focus on. Michael Kors makes a Leather-Piped Sheath Dress (Neiman Marcus, $1895) that comes to the knee and features a round halter neckline, cut-in shoulders, fitted sheath silhouette and back zip down the center seam. Kors also makes a strapless version of this dress (Saks Fifth Avenue, $1795) with princess seams, metallic leather piping and a concealed back zip. If you want to opt for something a bit edgier, the T by Alexander Wang collection features a Mesh Combo Tank Dress (shopbop.com, $285) that falls below the knee and features mesh trimming that ups the sexy-factor.
Simple Jewelry
Swift kept her Lorraine Schwartz jewelry simple so as to point attention to her gorgeous dress. If you want to recreate the country star's accessories, do it with a detailed cuff.
If you are willing to splurge, the Azaara Florentine Leaf Cuff-Bracelet (endless.com, $1125) with intricate 22k gold-dipped leaves and an open design. Alexis Bittar's Pave Accented Gold Small Woven Leaf Cuff (Bloomingdales, $245) features open woven leaves with a striking contrast of gold and rhodium tones. A more inexpensive option is the Frond Cuff from Bauble Bar (baublebar.com, $34) that comes sculpted in the shape of a giant front leaf. The rose-gold hue with add a striking contrast to your white dress.
Loose Waves
Taylor Swift's loose waves added a causal sexiness to her style. ClevverStyle visited Drybar hair salon in West Hollywood to find out how to get natural, loose curls. Make sure to use a large-barreled iron, like Sultra's The Bombshell 1 curler (Sephora, $130), to get voluminous curls as opposed to tiny ringlets. Work in smaller sections by clipping up the top half of your hair first and working from underneath. Spray the hair with movable holding spray, like Bumble and bumble's Does It All Styling Spray (Sephora, $14), to keep your waves in place all night.
Smoky Brown Eyes and Pale Pink Lips
Taylor Swift's sultry makeup completed her stunning 2012 AMC Awards look. She flaunted smoky brown eyes, luminous skin and pale pink lips.
Swift's face is easy to recreate with the right shades. Urban Decay's Naked Palette (urbandecay.com, $50) is not an all-time best-seller for nothing. The Naked palette comes with the perfect collection of pink, gold, bronze and gray tones that work well with any skin color. Swift lined her eyes with brown shadow and applied the same tone to her lids. Make sure to blend well and add a darker shade at the outer corner of the lids for contrast.
One of Taylor Swift's best features is her flawless skin. The 22-year-old beauty showed off a luminous face at the 2012 AMC Awards. Recreate this perfected look in three easy steps. First, begin with primer, like Smashbox Camera Ready Primer (smashbox.com, $17). Top this with a smoothing foundation, like Givenchy Photo'Perfexion Fluid Foundation (Sephora, $48). Finally, finish your look with luminizer on the apples of your cheeks. Try NARS' Orgasm Luminizer (Sephora, $39) for a flattering, pink hue.
Taylor Swift kept her eyes the focal point of her face for the AMC Awards. You can mimic this look with pale pink lips. Line lips with a neutral pencil, like NARS' Hopi Pencil, a lovely honey beige shade (narscosmetics.com, $24). Top this off with a pale pink lip gloss. Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish in Trixie (Sephora, $18) will give you a shimmering golden rose hue.
