Las Vegas police have arrested a man leading a sex cult known for allegedly sexually assaulting young Indigenous girls for over two decades. According to police records, the man has been identified as former actor Nathan Lee Chasing His Horse, who appeared in the multiple Oscar-winning movie, "Dances With Wolves".
Nathan Lee Chasing His Horse, who goes by the name of Nathan Chasing Horse, was arrested Tuesday afternoon near his North Las Vegas home where he resided with his five wives. The arrest was followed by a raid of the property by detectives while SWAT officers were spotted outside the two-story home.
Chasing Horse's arrest comes after months of investigation following a tip-off in October last year. The search warrant states that he's the leader of a cult called "The Circle", AP reported.
The former actor's portrayal of a tribe member in the critically-acclaimed movie helped him gain prominence as a healer and conductor of spiritual gatherings among tribes in the United States and Canada. He was known as the "Medicine Man" or "Holy Person" among tribes and revered as someone who could communicate with higher powers. Chasing Horse took advantage of the influence he had to assault young Native American girls, ABC reported.
According to the warrant, at least six alleged victims have been identified by Las Vegas police, and several sexual assault allegations, some dating back to the early aughts across multiple states including South Dakota and Nevada, have come to light. Chasing Horse resided in Nevada for about a decade. The warrant also mentions his banishment from Fort Peck Reservation in Poplar, Montana, over several allegations of human trafficking.
Chasing Horse was arrested for alleged crimes committed in Nevada's Clark County. These crimes include sex trafficking and sexual assault of a child under age 16 and child abuse. The warrant also has details of his criminal activity reported in other places.
The suspect is accused of filming the sexual assaults and allegedly accepting money from other men to arrange sex with the victims, some of them as young as 13. The warrant also mentions the ages of some of Chasing Horse's wives. One of his wives was offered to him as a "gift" when she turned 15, and he wed another girl after she turned 16. The age of consent for marriage is 18 in Nevada, and a person can marry at 17 with parental consent or a court order.
