Adele turned out to be the queen of the 2012 Grammys on Sunday night. The British songstress rocked the awards show with her rousing rendition of Rolling in the Deep after getting throat surgery last fall, receiving a heartfelt standing ovation from the crowd. She also took home, oh, six Grammy awards, sweeping every category she was nominated in.
Adele showed her stuff during Rolling in the Deep, singing riffs and vibratos that few other artists could master. Her performance was effortless and made singing look just that easy.
Fans rushed to Twitter to compliment her on her performance. Her name began trending on Twitter Sunday night and the hashtag Congrats to Adele remained through Monday morning. One Twitter user quipped: Just wondering who has the worst post #Grammys hangover, Russell Brand, Adele's ex, or Nicki Minaj's agent?
It is no wonder Adele was the best-selling artist of 2011. Her stage presence and vocal prowess proved that she is amongst the top performs in the biz today.
She took home trophies for both song and record of the year; album of the year for 21; best short-form video; best pop vocal album; and best pop solo performance for Someone Like You.
Adele said Rolling in the Deep was inspired by a rubbish relationship. She thanked producer Rick Rubin for teaching her quality control and expressed her appreciation for a most life-changing year. Adele showed how truly down-to-earth she is, joking with the audience and not shying away from some self-deprecation.
She also made sure to thank the doctor who brought my voice back after suffering a vocal cord hemorrhage. Fans were concerned about Adele's well-being after surgery last fall, but the singer showed she is back and better than ever at Sunday's Grammys.
