Adele gave fans a sneak peek at her first new song in six years during her first-ever Instagram Live Saturday.
Near the end of her live video chat, the "Hello" hitmaker, 33, surprised her fans by playing a snippet of her single, "Easy on Me," from her upcoming fourth studio album. She also mentioned that she "might get in trouble for it," People reported.
The track begins with a brief piano solo before she starts singing, "There ain't no gold in this river that I've been washing my hands in forever. I know there is hope in these waters but I can't bring myself to swim when I am drowning in this silence. Baby, let me in."
Fans managed to get a copy of the teaser and shared it on social media. Listen to the snippet of Adele's "Easy on Me" below.
Earlier this month, Adele announced on social media that she would be releasing her first new track in six years on Oct. 15. She shared a teaser on Twitter, but it was shorter than the sample she played during her Instagram Live.
During her Instagram Live Q&A, one fan asked Adele what her new album would be based on. "Divorce, babe, divorce," the singer replied.
Adele was previously married to Simon Konecki. They finalized their divorce in March, nearly two years after they first split.
"Writing my music has been really therapeutic, for sure," the British pop star told fans.
Adele also opened up about her divorce from Konecki in her recent interview with Vogue. She said she simply "wasn't happy" in her marriage, though "neither of us did anything wrong."
"Neither of us hurt each other or anything like that. It was just: I want my son to see me really love, and be loved. It's really important to me," said Adele, who appeared on the November 2021 covers of the magazine's American and British editions.
The singer also told British Vogue, "It just wasn't right for me anymore. I didn't want to end up like a lot of other people I knew. It wasn't miserable miserable, but I would have been miserable had I not put myself first. But, yeah, nothing bad happened or anything like that."
Adele and Konecki, who tied the knot in 2017 after five years of dating, share 8-year-old son Angelo. According to the pop star, she has been on a journey to find her "true happiness" since her divorce.
Adele is now dating sports agent Rich Paul, the founder of management company Klutch Sports Group. The two were first spotted together in public at Game 5 of the NBA Finals in July.
Adele's new single "Easy on Me" will be released on Oct. 15. A release date for her untitled album has yet to be announced, but she told fans, "It's dropping soon, don't you worry."
