  • Adrian Wojnarowski has an estimated net worth of $6 million
  • His breaking news earned him the nickname "Woj Bomb"
  • ESPN suspended Woj over his email exchange with senator Josh Hawley

Adrian Wojnarowski’s net worth is estimated at $6 million. He signed an estimated $8 million, four-year deal with Yahoo! in 2015.

Wojnarowski is considered one of the best in the business. His way of breaking news ahead of everyone else has earned him the nickname “Woj Bomb.” The 51-year-old columnist started sports covering in 1997, working for The Record in New Jersey for a decade.

According to COED, he joined Yahoo! in 2007 and created The Vertical, which would go on to compete with ESPN when it comes to breaking news. In 2017, Woj joined ESPN in a controversial move as experts claimed it was a case of poaching or a contract buyout. At the time, ESPN was involved in mass layoffs that included longtime NBA writer Marc Stein.

Aside from talking and writing about sports, Woj has also published a book entitled “The Miracle of St. Anthony: A Season with Coach Bob Hurley and Basketball’s Most Improbable Dynasty,” which went on to become a best-seller. The NBA insider made a name for himself in 2011 when he released first the names of those drafted in the NBA ahead of the televised schedule.

Woj made the headlines recently after his exchange with Republican Senator Josh Hawley went public on Twitter. Hawley accused the NBA of kowtowing to China and called for the league to support the police amid the Black Lives Matter protests. Woj dropped the F-word in a reply to Hawley, which prompted ESPN to suspend the employee without pay. The NBA insider admitted his mistake, as per NBC Sports. The length of the suspension is not known, but experts claim it could be up to two weeks.

Some players expressed support toward the suspended sportscaster. LeBron James tweeted #freewoj on his social media account and Lou Williams, Anthony Tolliver, Isaiah Thomas, Eric Paschall and Enes Kanter also used the hashtag in their Twitter posts.

The NBA is set to resume its season on July 30. Teams are invited to Disney World in Orlando to play a number of games that would determine the playoff seeding. Moreover, games will be played without a live audience and players are required to quarantine in Disney World facilities. The chance of suspending the season altogether remains a possibility if the number of positive cases continue to rise, according to Commissioner Adam Silver.
