  • AEW president Tony Khan said talent approached him about tampering issues involving WWE
  • In August 2022, Khan had a meeting with talent about addressing such issues
  • "The wrestling business is very dirty," Khan said during the interview

Tampering is an extremely-prevalent practice in the world of sports as teams are doing their best to stack the deck in their favor without being caught red-handed, and it appears to be no different in the world of pro wrestling.

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) founder and president Tony Khan revealed as much on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz recently.

"I've got a lot of wrestlers who come to me and allege that WWE reached out to them to tamper with their contracts and ask them to break their contracts. I can't confirm that specifically. I can only tell you what the wrestlers have come to me and said, but I've had multiple wrestlers and staff report that to me," Khan stated.

"It was very disturbing. I've had to go out and try to put on good shows despite this alleged tampering, and stuff like that. Frankly, I don't think it's stopped us because the quality of the product and the quality of the shows is at an all-time high right now."

This appears to be in conjunction with reports that came out in August of last year when Khan had a meeting with AEW talent to address concerns about tampering.

What is noteworthy about the late August meeting is that it would be around the first full month that Triple H had full creative control of the company after the then-retirement of Vince McMahon due to a scandal involving hush-money allegations in June.

During that time, it was rumored that many released WWE talents were considering a return to the company since many of them liked working with Triple H and had positive thoughts about where WWE could go with him at the helm.

With all of that being said and Khan's latest revelation, fans can now put two-and-two together to paint the whole picture–at least based on what has been said thus far.

"The wrestling business is very dirty. I can't speak to the fight business but certainly, I think it's more organized than the fight business. As far as there's two, I think, well-organized promotions competing with each other," Khan said.

However, his next statement is certainly set to tickle the fancy of many pro wrestling fans regardless of what promotion they are mainly backing.

"I think we truly, truly hate each other and I think it makes for really exciting TV and it makes for an exciting wrestling war," he ended.
