WWE superstar CM Punk is still welcome to join AEW because of his “crazy” fanbase.

While some reports claim that AEW are no longer interested in the former WWE Champion Punk after criticising AEW's recruitment attempt of him back in July, there are rumors that he could still be a part of the said company.

And just recently, executive vice president of AEW Cody Rhodes confirmed that the door is still open for Punk if he would really be all in to return to pro wrestling.

Speaking Collider Live, Rhodes addressed Punk’s status with AEW and said that Punk's chance of being signed by the company is still 50/50. Rhodes also stated AEW did more than just texting during Punk’s recruitment process.

"He did kind of make us look like dumbasses, saying we sent him a text offer. I'm sure we texted him, but we also called him,” Rhodes revealed.

Even though Rhodes remains open to the idea of Punk coming in to AEW, he still has doubts about Punk’s commitment. In fact, he also emphasized that they are more focused on the guys who have proven that they really want to take part in the company’s endeavors.

“We gotta focus on who really wants to be on board with us versus going out and finding someone who perhaps doesn't really want to be part of this," Rhodes stated.

But Rhodes admitted that one of the main reasons why he would still consider signing Punk is because of the loyal and massive fanbase the WWE star has, which he finds “crazy” given Punk rarely showed up in pro wrestling in the past several years.

"I'm sure we'll run into each other at some point. If he ever wanted to be part of this and he had the passion to comeback to wrestling, that door is always open. No ego, no situation would ever prevent us from having him come in because the fans have never given up on Punk. Ever. It's crazy," Rhodes admitted.

Apparently, WWE is also making moves to seal a deal with Punk. According to Mike Johnson of PW, Punk met with FOX officials at their studios in Los Angeles this week to discuss “WWE Backstage,” a brand-new show created by WWE which will start airing on November 5.

After what he believed was mistreatment from WWE, Punk walked out on the company after the 2014 Royal Rumble. Since then, Punk has been away from wrestling for over five years now and has shown little desire to make a comeback.
