After Breast Cancer Surgery, Giuliana Rancic Will Come Back Stronger and Better (PHOTOS)

Giuliana Rancic, 37, the E! News host, is recovering after the breast cancer surgery-- a double lumpectomy as part of her treatment on Tuesday, Bill Rancic, 40, Giuliana's husband, said Thursday on the Today show.

When the couple attempted to expand their family through IVF, they were told that Giuliana had the breast cancer, according to a report on AccessHollywood.com.

“Through my attempt to get pregnant through IVF, we sadly found out that I have early stages of breast cancer,” Giuliana said in an interview on NBC’s “Today” show on Monday morning. “It’s been a shock.”

Referring to the day Giuliana had breast cancer surgery, Bill said on the show, It was kind of a long day.

There's many steps in the process when you go through this, he said.

Giuliana experienced a two-hour MRI, where guide wires were inserted into one breast to find out what area to remove. After that, she underwent a mammogram on the other breast and repeated the process. Then, the star suffered a two-hour surgery to remove the cancerous lumps.

Giuliana is a trooper. She pulled through it, Bill said. She's relieved to have it over with and get the cancer out. She's doing well at home and recovering – and I'm adding nurse to my resume. She's having fun with that.

The surgery appeared to be successful and the result whether the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes will come out soon.

Giuliana has had a tough year and a half. Between the IVF attempts and now with this, I wish I could carry some of the load, Bill added. Watching her being wheeled into that operating room was heartbreaking for me. I'm just doing everything I can to support her and make sure that she's comfortable.

However, the couple are positive and hopeful.

We're viewing this as a gift, that it was caught very early, Bill said.

Giuliana plans to return to work next week even though she is due to begin a six-week radiation soon.

Make sure her spot is open! Bill joked, referring to Ryan Seacrest's crack that he was going to use Giuliana's parking space while she was absent.

The spouses want to continue their attempts to have a baby when Giuliana’s medical issues are over.

I'm not gonna give up, she said Monday, saying that her child will have saved my life.

There's some master plan, she said. Now I know that [God] was looking out for me.
