Christmas may be over but New Year is just around the corner and the second phase of large-scale holiday shopping is only just beginning.

The day after Christmas is usually (and perhaps surprisingly) one of the biggest shopping days of the year. It is the day when all leading retailers stay open; despite the fact it is a federal holiday in the U.S., for Christmas and clearance sales. While the deals probably don't bear comparison to those on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, there are still some great products available at considerable discounts.

Bloomingdale's, a Macy's sister brand, is known for setting trends with designer and celebrity-style costumes and other luxury products. This season, the sale at Bloomingdale's begins on Dec. 26. Shoppers can avail of discounts up to 75 per cent, on designer wear for women. The store's exclusive collection of lingerie, jackets, dresses, casual wear... all of it is on sale! Target - The store will open at 7 a.m. and stay open till 11 p.m.

Target's sale includes everything from toys to electronics. The retail chain is offering big discounts and shoppers can save up to 65 percent, if shopping online. There are discounts of up to 50 percent on women's and children's clothing, as well as home décor and household items.

Some great deals include a free $75 Target gift card on purchase of a PS3 or Xbox 360 bundle; 30 percent off on children's toys; a $50 coupon for any Kindle (if you trade an older model).
