After Kris Humphries Tweet To Jay-Z, Kanye Still Wins Kim Kardashian
Even after signing a contract with the Brooklyn Nets worth $12 million a year, Kris Humphries can't beat Kanye West. Kanye, certainly a talented blowhard who would never be described as humble, is still more likable than Humphries, who tweeted Tuesday, I'm up at Brooklyn! @S_C_ 'lucky I didn't have Jay drop me from the team' lol! Even though Humphries is $12 million richer, his comeback against Yeezy is the definition of too little, too late.
Kanye stole Kim Kardashian from the basketball player and famously referenced him in his song Way Too Cold by saying, And I fell in love with Kim/Around the same time she fell in love with him/ Well that's cool baby girl, do your thing/ Lucky I ain't had Jay drop him from the team. Hardly classy, that's still a move that at least exhibits some personality.
West's shot at the basketball player-turned-tabloid star would be tough for anyone to come back from, much less someone that has just signed a contract to play for West's buddy Jay-Z. Humphries is a bland, boring persona who should never have been perceived as much more than a nice piece for the Brooklyn Nets. His short marriage to Kim Kardashian will always overshadow his playing career.
The real problem for Humphries, though, is that there's no way he can win. Kanye stole Humphries' girl and then he made him look bad by talking about him in a song. Kanye's a controversial guy, but he's endlessly more popular than Humphries.
Is he classier? Maybe, but we're talking about how reality TV stars mesh with the ego of athletes and superstar musicians, so class isn't really a word that applies at all. Humphries would more appropriately be described as blah.
What might sum up Humphries' public persona best is his Twitter bio, which simply reads I'm on a boat. That song came out in early 2009 and stopped being funny soon after. Anyone who's using the most obvious Lonely Island reference for a Twitter bio should not be trying to come back at Kanye in a feud, even if the feud itself seems like it's mostly fueled by tabloid covers.
The biggest thing Humphries does have going for him is his sheer size. At 6 feet, 9 inches, Humphries would absolutely throttle Kanye West (who is reportedly about a foot shorter) if the two ever get into a nightclub brawl a la Drake and Chris Brown. The wild card in that scenario is Khloe Kardashian, who could do some serious damage to both sides.
Oh and one more thing, The Urban Daily reported earlier this year that Kanye West is worth around $70 million. That's with the mega-loaded Kim Kardashian on his arm and a career that won't end when he's in his mid-30s like Humphries.
Even after all the drama and tweets, the scoreboard will still rack up to Kanye 2 - Humphries 1.
