After Woman’s Mysterious Death At Mexico Resort, Family Speaks Out
The family of a Wisconsin college student, Abbey Conner, has spoken out for the first time since she died at an upscale Mexican resort under mysterious circumstances.
The 20-year-old Conner died after being served alcohol at the resort. She was found floating in a pool with a broken collar bone. Reports also said Conner slipped into a coma, barely two hours after she had landed at the resort for a vacation with her family.

Her parents, Ginny and John McGowan, are desperately trying to find out what led to their daughter’s sudden death.
Speaking to ABC News, Conner’s mother, Ginny said: "You protect your child from so much since they're born, and then you know, something happens in an instant."
Ginny said she and her husband were supposed to meet Conner and her elder brother Austin in the lobby of the Iberostar Paraiso Resort. However, when the children failed to turn up, Ginny and John became concerned. Hours later, they were informed about Conner’s death.
“We just sat on chairs at the side of the pool, and we’re like, we’re going to go up and get ready for dinner. You guys need to meet us in the lobby at 7:30,” Ginny recalled telling her kids.
Austin, who stayed by the pool with Conner, said: “We swam around for a little bit and decided let’s celebrate with a drink. So we go up to the bar, and another group that was already there starts talking...we didn’t know them. The bartender pours out a line of shots, and I take one, and everyone else does. And the last thing I remember was like we are right now, sitting here talking, and lights went out. And I woke up in the ambulance.”
According to NY Daily News, Ginny was informed about her children's condition by a hotel staff member after she enquired about them. The staff member told her about the incident, how her kids were found floating in the pool and that they had been rushed to the hospital.
Ginny later found out that Conner was left brain dead and Austin had suffered a concussion.
Authorities said the blood alcohol level in Conner and Austin’s body was .25 which was three times higher than the limit allowed by the law, the report added.
Speaking about coping with his sister’s sudden death, a teary-eyed Austin said: “I just almost want to say thank you for being there for me up to this point. I don't know what to do without her. Just thank you and I love you,” Daily Mail Online reported.

When asked if he and his sister had consumed too much alcohol, Austin said: “I've thought about it and I mean it is a possibility. But how if we're in a group of people do two people at the same exact time just pass out in the pool and no one sees it.”
Expressing their grief over the incident, Conner’s family said they hoped that their daughter was at peace and didn’t suffer at all.
